The way of the programmer

Programming computers... it is a science, and an art. It is a science because it can be defined, measured, written in books, learned, whatever. It is an art because it requires inspiration. The true programmer writes code with passion, like a Da Vinci painting that annoying woman that you dont know if she is smiling or sending you to hell.

Yesterday I started a particularly complex work. Complex, because I didnt had a clue about how to do it, and it just got more complex as I was adding more code and making things work. Right now Im in a middle of a mess where I dont know what should depend on what. Thats the usual life of a programmer while learning to do something new. In this case, game programming.

And real programmers enjoy facing such intellectual challenges, as passionate mathematicians enjoy solving weird problems. We are not weird for that, not too different from the rest of you just because computers do what we tell them to do (not what we want them to do, sometimes what we want and what we tell is not the same). Are you weird because you like to climb mountains? Or play basketball?

Going back to my project, Im pretty close to reach playable state. Probably if I werent in the middle of a frantic race to get fundings to support my house I would have reached it long time ago. Real life requires real money, like any RPG you have played. But in real life you cant kick a barrel and find inside an old radio that you can sell to the next merchant. At least, not in my country.
